BIOGRAPHIES; Here are the biographies of one of the most exciting bands to hit the triangle in years; 


John Billington, on saxophone, flute, and wind controller is a composer / soloist / producer / teacher. He specializes in woodwinds, wind synthesizers, and sequencers and groove programs. He currently teaches flute, saxophone, clarinet, and electronic wind instruments in the Cary/Raleigh area in his home studio, Burt's Music in Cary, and Marsh Woodwinds in Raleigh. John is a member of ASCAP with over 30 original compositions and who has studied performance flute with the former second flute of the Chicago Symphony and Dr. Robert Billington-University of Miami. He has also given presentations to local corporations (i.e. Glaxo) on "Music & The Relaxation Response" to help educate employees on using certain music as stress relief. He has independently produced two CDs, Tolisha & Project Bluebook.  

 

 


Scott Strong is a professional pianist in the Raleigh area. He has played with big bands, Dixieland bands and duets He also plays for worship at various churches. A Florida State University music school alumnus, Scott is a composer and arranger. Scott has been teaching for the past 10 years. He has been involved in music ministry for the past 20 years. 

 

 

 

 

 


Mark Underwood has performed in both classical and jazz settings during the 70's for such groups as Raleigh Civic Symphony and The Roy Roach Orchestra. He co-founded a jazz and fusion trio, Double Jeopardy during this time period. Many Raleigh residents will remember Mark from a fifteen-year engagement at Irregardless restaurant, performing with pianist Tom Floyd and with guest artists after Tom’s move to Roanoke , VA. Mark contributed during the 90’s and early part of the current decade as an electric bass player and as choir member to the worship team at Crossroads Fellowship, an interdenominational Christian Church in North Raleigh. Since 2004, Mark has focused his musical activities into a full time career pursuit. He books bands as an independent music agent and serves on the board of Directors for the Raleigh Symphony. He performs regularly with The Raleigh Civic Symphony, The Raleigh Symphony, The Raleigh Jazz Orchestra, RJO Swing Band, Swing Street and a number of smaller combos.


 

 


Eric Okamoto is a skilled and well known area percussionist and consultant to area band directors and percussion teachers. He has gained a leading reputation as a High Academic Teacher of Music, conducting Master classes. He has authored six successful Percussion Drum Method books and been awarded a U.S. Patent for Percussion Music Teaching Method. He has performed with the following musical groups as a percussionist: Bob Hope United Way Show, Wake County Arts Council's "Pieces of Gold", Raleigh Little Theater, South Boston Community Theater, Lotus, Notsodandylions, Swingshift and others. Eric received his BA in music from East Carolina University. And last but not least, Eric has won one of the  NAMM competitions as the "world's fastest drummer "!!!

 

 

 

 

 

Bill Stonehouse performs frequently with the The Review. Bill is a classically trained vocalist (4 octave range) who has studied under Senois Primo Pucinelli and Francesco Sorignello.  His forte is as a big band crooner though and he has been influenced by the sounds of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Michael Buble, and others. Bill  has the capability to perform pop ,rock, and blues standards equally as well as jazz standards and has developed a large devoted following in the Triangle area.
